UAE Document Authentication in the U.S.

UAE Document Authentication is a procedure to confirm validity of the seal and signature on documents issued in the UAE or abroad.

Attestation services, provided by MoFAIC in the UAE and by its missions abroad, include the attestation of documents issued by entities in the UAE or in other countries.

The UAE Embassy in the U.S. authenticates all legal and personal documents to be used in the United Arab Emirates. Documents must be submitted in person (when available) or mailed to the following address:

The Embassy requires a minimum of 3 business days to process any document.

Business & Corporate Documents

Business & Corporate Documents

Step 1: All documents must be attested by your Local Office of Secretary of State prior to sending them to the UAE Embassy.

Step 2: Send or bring the authenticated documents along with the following items to the UAE Embassy:

  • Money order or Cashier’s Check for the amount of $544.59 per document, payable to The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, Please make sure to fill out the money order as follows (Your name, address and phone number).

Please be sure to include your online payment confirmation receipt with your documents

  • Include a pre-paid self-addressed return envelope. Write your name and address for the sender and recipient of the return envelope or airway bill.

Important notes:

  • Please make sure not to combine more than one document under one US. State Dept. Seal. (Ex:  Resolution and Distribution agreement can’t be combined as one document)

Personal & Educational Documents

1. Personal Documents

Step 1: All personal documents must be attested by The U.S Dept. of State Authentication Office before sending them to the UAE Embassy. The relevant State department office can be contacted at (202) 647-4000 Ext. 3.

Step 2:  Send or bring the authenticated documents along with the following items to the UAE Embassy for final authentication:

  • Money order or Cashier’s Check for the amount of $40.84 per document, payable to The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates, Please make sure to fill out the money order as follows (Your name, address and phone number),

  • Please include a pre-paid self-addressed return envelope. Write your name and address for the sender and recipient of the return envelope or airway bill.

    Examples of personal documents:

  • Personal Power of Attorney that doesn’t imply business transaction.
  • Birth Certificate
  • Marital Status
  • Certificate of Good Conduct
  • Fingerprints

2. Educational Documents

Step 1: All Educational documents must be attested by The U.S Dept. of State Authentication Office before sending them to the UAE Embassy. The relevant State department office can be contacted at (202) 647-4000 Ext. 3.

The educational institution must be located in the U.S and regionally accredited by NEASC (CIHE), MSA (CHE), NCA (HLC), SACS (COC), NWCCU, or WASC (ACCJC-ACSCU).

To show proof of regional accreditation, please visit the Council for Higher Education Accreditation website https://www.chea.org and print your institution’s accreditation information.

Step 2: Send or bring the authenticated documents along with the following items to the UAE Embassy for final authentication:

  • Money order or Cashier’s Check for the amount of $40.84 per document, payable to The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates.

Commercial Invoices & Shipping Documents

Commercial invoices and related certificates must be verified by Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, the UAE Embassy’s exclusive Verification Agent, at their Washington, DC office.

Effective February 1st, 2023, the UAE Embassy in DC will no longer process commercial invoices.

UAE Document Authentication instructions

Instruction to be considered:
For documents issued inside the UAE:
1.Original document must be attested by the governing government entity except for digital documents issued by a government entity or documents attested electronically
2.Apply for attestation in the UAE through MoFAIC online channels. 
3.Include the original document. If the document is digital or electronically attested, include a copy of it.
4.Document can then be attested by one of our embassies or missions abroad by applying for attestation on our online channels. 

For documents issued outside the UAE:
1.Original document must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of issuing country. 
2.Document can then be attested by one of UAE’s Embassy or Consulate in issuing country by applying though MoFAIC online channels. 
3.Documents must be attested in the UAE by applying for attestation in the UAE through our online channels. Please include the original attested document.

Express: (1 working day) – up to 10 documents per transaction
