The Embassy of France in the United States is the diplomatic mission of the French Republic to the United States. Its chief responsibility is to represent France and its interests in the U.S., to foster diplomatic relations, and to promote economic, cultural, and scientific cooperation between the two countries.
Located in Washington D.C., the embassy complex houses the office of the Ambassador, who serves as the highest-ranking diplomatic representative of France in the U.S. The Ambassador, together with other diplomats and staff members, engages in a broad range of activities, including political dialogue, trade and economic coordination, and cultural exchanges.
Consular services provided by the embassy include issuing visas for individuals planning to visit France, offering assistance to French citizens residing or traveling in the U.S., and handling matters related to citizenship and international travel.
Beyond its core diplomatic and consular functions, the French Embassy also plays a key role in cultural diplomacy. It organizes and participates in numerous events and initiatives aimed at promoting French culture, history, and society to the American public.
France also maintains several consulates in major U.S. cities to provide comprehensive diplomatic representation and consular services throughout the country. These offices ensure that the needs of French citizens and those interested in French affairs in the U.S. are well served.
