The Embassy of India in the United States is the official diplomatic mission of the Government of India to the United States. It is located in Washington, D.C. and serves as a vital link between India and the United States. The embassy’s mission is to strengthen the relationship between the two countries, promote India’s interests in the United States, and provide consular services to Indian citizens living in the United States.
In addition to its diplomatic and cultural roles, the embassy also provides consular services to Indian citizens living in the United States. This includes processing visa applications, assisting with passport renewals, and providing information and assistance to Indian citizens in emergency situations.

The Embassy have no Agents for rending these services and applicants should approach the Embassy directly, either in person or through mail.
There is no parking space available at the Embassy for applicants coming to seek consular services. Visitors arriving by car may have difficulties finding a parking place in the area. Therefore, the use of public transport is recommended. Dupont Circle is the station on the Red Line of the Washington Metro which is the nearest one to the Consular Wing.
Emergency Visa Assistance: For any emergency Visa services, please contact cell number +1-202-258-8819. The number will be available during weekends and other Embassy holidays. These emergency visa services are generally available for persons of Indian origin in the case of a serious situation like death or serious sickness of an immediate family member. The Embassy will make every effort to accommodate emergency visa requests, provided correct and adequate documentation is submitted by the applicant.
