Embassy and Consulates General of the PRC in the U.S. plays a significant role in facilitating diplomatic relations between the two countries. As the official representative of the People’s Republic of China in the United States, the embassy is responsible for a wide range of functions that are critical to maintaining and strengthening bilateral relations.

At present, China has one Embassy in Washington D.C and four consulates general in the following U.S. cities: New York, NY; Chicago, IL; San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA, responsible for consular affairs in their respective jurisdictions. Please be advised that sending your visa application or document(s) to the incorrect office may result in complication or delay in processing or even denial of application. Please check out on the embassy or consulate corresponding to the state where you live.

Note: On July 21, 2020, the United States government ordered the consulate in Houston to be closed within 72 hours. Since then the Consulate General in Houston is permanently closed.
